We’ve had some good days. We did his physical therapy on July 23, 2024 with a second ketamine shot. Gizmo has been in a good mood and generally eating better. He’s no longer losing weight. In fact, he weighed in at 42kg (up from 40 a couple weeks ago) so he’s even gained a little (but is still underweight so I’m hoping we can keep up this trend). He still barks to get help up when he wants to move, but we’re providing less assistance than we’d been the past few weeks. He can actually walk on his own even if he’s not sure about it. We’re encouraging him to use his legs himself more. He’s still limping and not loving putting weight on his back right leg now (it was the front left before; it seems to rotate as he overuses one). He is starting to become more willing to get up and move on his own sometimes, too. He has more of a limp than I like, but we seem to be moving in the right direction and he is now stopping the Prednisone now so we’ll soon see if he can recover from it. When the steroids are out of his system, we’ll be able to restart his Galliprant (anti-inflammatory) and maybe that will also help. It’s starting to feel like things are getting back to normal and I’m glad we didn’t make any irreversible decisions before we’ve tried everything.
